Opportunity: BEIJING+25 LBTIQ Fellowships for human rights defenders in Global South

OutRight Action International is offering paid fellowship opportunities for 8 LBTIQ human rights defenders working and residing in Asia, Pacific, Africa, Caribbean, Latin America and Middle East to participate in the Beijing+25 processes. Guided and supported by OutRight’s UN-program team, fellows will participate in direct and coordinated ways in 3 or more international advocacy activities planned, starting with the Commission on the Status of Women in 2020 and throughout the year, ending with the Commission on the Status of Women in 2021. Activities would include the 64th Commission on the Status of Women, the Generation Equality Forum in Mexico and France, the UN General Assembly Leaders Week, and AWID 2020. Selected applicants will be invited for on-line interview.

 

Eligibility:

Reside and work in Asia, Pacific, Africa, Middle East, Latin America or the Caribbean

Can demonstrate an interest and track record in engagement and advocacy efforts in progressing LBTIQ rights

Be available on the dates of and committed to participate in the Beijing+25 high level meetings

Be fluent in written and spoken English

Hold feminist values and apply an intersectional lens to advocacy

Women, trans, gender non-conforming and intersex human rights defenders are especially encouraged to apply
